So it’s finished! It was actually completed back on what, the 11th or so, but I was waiting to see if Allison was ok with it. ANYWAY.
So I sort of wanted to push a lot of symbolism in this picture, esp since I love these two. I slash Jeih and Ary, but not in a sexual or even ‘romantic’ way as it is (though I do approve of cuddling and whatnot!). Instead, in my mind, Jeih is constantly at odds against himself vying for Ary’s approval and attention. This is more of a mental image than anything else where Jeih is allowed to impress himself fully upon Ary (hence the complete coverage of the Emperor’s Hand on Ary’s chest), yet when it comes down to it, Ary is constantly pushing back against him and Jeih can’t get anywhere. I kind of wanted to show that with Ary’s grander presence in Lock forms.
BUT. Anyway, normally I don’t explain the symbolism in my pictures (I generally speak mostly through symbolism in my original artwork), but I wanted to clear the air here since there are people who think these two are canonically gay with each other and this picture is sort of…homoerotic in a way?? The end!

MILLLIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII THIS IS KIND OF AMAZING I don’t even know where to start. Gads your pencil work is gorgeous. Your sense of flow and form is utterly fantastic here, from the arcing of the Locks overhead to the hair bleeding into Lock-tar to the postures of both their human forms. I freaking love everything about this, especially after your explanation because I totally didn’t pick up on some of that in the WIPs and AHH GADS ALL SORTS OF THRILLING FEELS. I dig the concept and once again you have me insanely curious about what’s going on inside your head I want to throw ‘what if’ scenarios at you CAN I DO THAT? -runs to ask box-
Anyway I adore the softness of their faces, it’s such an interesting contrast to the unyielding sharpness of their Lock forms. And Jeih’s insistent pushing, the hand covering the mark, the claws in his neck (you have no idea how much I love that, that is so very Jeih), the barest hint of an unhappy snarl on his face because he’s not getting what he wants. At first I mistook Ary’s part in it as one of yielding and acceptance, but looking at him now his stance, even though it’s open, he’s more… impervious? I think that’s the word I’m looking for. That even amidst all that closeness there’s a wall there, and I love every bit of that. HFFFF SO MUCH LOVE.
I need to do so much giftart for you. I seriously can’t get over how awesomely you draw my bebes. It’s so good it hurts. <3333
